This company made my leg prosthetics for over 25-years. This device always caused me severe pain and suffering. The women who answer the phone are rude. Most of their business comes from Dr. Patrick Hitchon because he paralyzed me and other patients. I switched to Comprehensive Prosthetics & Orthotics in Rock Island, IL and have never been happier.

Very poor experience with this company. They are located in the hospital, so they routinely get referrals from the Orthopedics clinic. Since they basically have a monopoly, they apparently don't feel the need for actual customer service. They don't even bother calling to let you know if your product is in. Also, they waited two weeks to even process the order for my daughter's brace because they only had oral confirmation from the insurance company that it would be paid for. They informed me of this when I finally called to find out if the brace was in! I could have provided them the insurance notification (or they could have asked the insurance company themselves), but I guess the attitude there is "we have all the business we need, customer service isn't necessary" So, a little disabled girl ends up spending a month without a brace that fits properly. Because these people do not care. And then when we finally get the brace, we find out that the shoes and special socks they helpfully included aren't covered by insurance. OK, I can pay for shoes and socks. The shoes are just regular New Balance tennis shoes. And they charged $200 for them. The special orthotic socks (or whatever they call them) turned out to be $40 PER SOCK! Twice what I could pay for them if I ordered them online. Another monopolist technique: gouge the customer, because we can. I will never use this company again. I'll take my business to Cedar Rapids or Davenport next time.

Very mixed results with American Prosthetics over the years. UIHC location has great technicians but the receptionist is easily agitated. It was really embarrassing when she was rude to me or others. She really blew a gasket when I came in with the wrong prescription form. Switched to the Muscatine Avenue location a couple of years ago. Outstanding, friendly staff. While two pairs of shoes arrived promptly another took over three months. The latest pair was ordered June 9 and it is now September 14 and they still have not arrived. You'd think they'd vet their vendors a stitch better.

Friendly staff! Always eager to help others in a timely manner.
